Japanese School in Abu Dhabi is a Japanese curriculum school located in Al Bateen on King Abdulaziz Street. Established in 1978, the school is officially authorized by the Japanese Government to follow the Education Curriculum of Japan. A kindergarten section was added in 1981 to serve younger learners.
The school welcomes both boys and girls, offering education from Pre-KG through Grade 9. Students follow the complete Japanese educational framework, preparing them for potential continuation of studies in Japan. The curriculum mirrors what students would experience at schools in Japan, maintaining academic standards aligned with Japanese national requirements.
Upon completing Grade 9, students wishing to pursue high school education in Japan take entrance examinations for Japanese high schools. The Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge provides scholarship support for qualifying students continuing to Grades 10-12 in Japan. A unique UAE National Students education support program, initiated in 2006, allows Emirati students to study under the Japanese educational system.

This is the only Japanese-curriculum school in Abu Dhabi, rated very good overall, with outstanding care and personal development for students. Achievement is very good in English, maths, science and Japanese, but only acceptable in Arabic as a first language, and students' speaking skills across languages need further development.
